Tango Classes with Marcelo Gutierrez

From Buenos Aires, Argentina

Marcelo Gutierrez belongs to a unique generation of tango professionals that benefited from studying with old school masters such as the Dinzels, Nito and Elba, the Rivarolas, Teresa Fernรกndez (Todaro system) and from being part of the tango revolution that came to be known as Tango Nuevo.
Marcelo started studying tango in 1998 and received professional training in choreography, modern dance, jazz, and yoga at IUNA (Instituto Universitario Nacional de Arte โ€“ Buenos Aires).
For the past 20 years, he has worked on developing and perfecting the teaching system he has become so well-known and respected for; a method focusing on stability, groundedness, comfort, natural body movement, core leading, organic leading and following..etc. Just a few classes with him can drastically improve your dancing and change your entire outlook on tango.

COVID-19 Fundraiser

COVID-19 Fundraising relief

let's come together and support

our venues and tango organizers and teachers

With the rest of the world, Portland has closed milongas, practicas, and tango classes to help slow down the COVID-19 pandemic.ย  We miss them!

There is so much uncertainty and we don’t know how long it will be before we have the ability to dance with each other again.ย ย

We have heard so many members of our wonderful community ask: What can I do to help?ย

The Portland Tango Association is facilitatingย a fundraising effort in order to preserve the community that we love so much.ย ย

There are 2 ways you can help:

  • You can donate directly to some of our special venues that are in need of assistance.
  • You can also make a donation to the general fund for Portland Tango.ย  These funds will be used to help the community get back on its feet after this crisis. Possible examples of how these funds could be used are: assistance to venues, events, and scholarships
