Taiji Tango Milonga

Taiji Tango Milonga

1st and 3rd Sundays

Have you ever played footsie with someone? Have you experienced a beautiful long hug? I’m sure you have taken a walk with someone hand in hand, right? Argentinian Tango can look like all of these.

Why Taiji? The goal of Tai Chi is relaxation and ease, in movement and mindset. Blending the concepts of tai chi and tango changes the perception of Tango: from hard to easy, from complicated to simple, from stressful to ease.

  • Day: 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month
  • Time: 7:00-11:00pm
  • Where: Awakenings Wellness Studio
  • Price: $13 ($4 for students)
  • Beginner lesson: 7:00pm
  • Dancing: 8:00-11:00pm

Taiji Tango Milonga is an alternative Argentinian Tango event.

It blends modern music with a traditional dance that evolved around 1880 in Buenos Aires. This event is your opportunity to taste this blend of worlds.

The evening will start with a beginners lesson at 6pm. Followed by a mini-practica.

Dancing starts around 7:15, and halfway through the evening we will have The Community Showcase. This allows all members of the community a chance to show us their skill and passion for the Tango!

To encourage empowered and caring dancers we have created some statements called, Self & Community Care. Look for the poster when you arrive.

Your host, teacher and DJ for this event is Eric Arthur. He found Tango in 2017, has been dJing other type of events since 2002, and uses his 22 years of experience in Tai chi to make Tango easy and approachable

If any employee, student/dancer witnesses another person being harassed, that behavior should be reported to teacher/even organizers.

Such reports will be investigated thoroughly and promptly. If deemed necessary by the event/class organizers, appropriate disciplinary action, up to and including discharge, will be taken if it is determined that a staff member or student/client has violated the policy on harassment. All information regarding any specific incident will be kept confidential within the necessary boundaries of the fact-finding process. Once an investigation is in progress, the involved parties should not be in contact. The staff member, student/dancer reporting the allegation of harassment will be kept updated as to the investigative process and the final outcome.
