Every Sunday at the New Viscount Studio at 720 SE Sandy Blvd.
This practica started in 1999 at Clay Nelson's old dance studio in Garden Home. It moved to its old location at the Viscount on Burnside in 2004, and Sept 2012 moved to current location on Sandy.
Bill Alsup (usually) and Megan Pingree (occasionally) host an informal basic techniques class at 1:00pm, then the practica continues until 5:00.
Bill and Megan do a wonderful job of creating a comfortable and informal space for dancers of all levels, including newcomers who may find dancing at more formal milongas intimidating. Your skill levels or "how you look" don't matter.
Owner Sarah has given the new studio a modern art-deco-ish flare. There are large West-facing windows that make the space feel bright and airy, which helps the Sunday practica provide its non-threatening environment for dancers of all levels and ages.
Admission is $5, which includes the lesson, light snacks, and beverages. [Cost is higher when the class is taught by visiting tango masters]
